RNU REFUTES KEARNEY DUNLOY “REPUBLICAN MASQUERADE.”
Statement from the Republican Network for Unity National Chairperson, Danny Mc Brearty.
The Republican Network for Unity spokesperson Danny Mc Brearty has slammed claims made by Provisional Sinn Fein organizer Declan Kearney at Dunloy that the struggle of generations of Republicans was “carried to a conclusion”:
“Generations of Irish Republicans have indeed struggled for but one conclusion that being national sovereignty in a 32 county Irish nation free of British rule. For anyone to masquerade, enlisting in Stormont, administering British rule, and endorsing a re-named crown constabulary imposing British rule and law as goals, for which anyone, much less any generation of Republicans, aspired to and struggled for is patently absurd. Hijacking a commemoration in order to fasten a mask of Republicanism over Stormont and a British regime is truly a masquerade that fools no one.
“Republicanism has never been the privately owned domain of any party to be twisted or turned at will in any direction for party advantage. The Republican Network for Unity will continue its efforts as an open political organization to pull the mask off those who pretend that propping up British rule is Republicanism, and to reclaim Republicanism from the masqueraders.”
