McCallion Family Refused compensation by British State

It was with great dismay that the members of Republican Network for Unity learned of the British courts decision to uphold the decision to refuse compensation to the family of ex blanket man Peter Mc Callion. This ruling seems to be seeking revenge on the family of a man who unashamedly fought against this very same British court system.

The assertion by these appeal Judges that “..a claim by dependant children is entirely dependent on the rights which the deceased would have had but for his supervening death. If so, no question of discrimination against the children would arise” is complete and utter nonsense and typical of the arrogance of the British judicial system and the British Government.

In life Peter Mc Callion had no rights as an Irish Republican as all shades of Republican opinion can testify to. The point is that even in death the British unable to hurt Peter anymore are quite happy to seek their pound of flesh from the innocent…Peter’s family. While we in the Republican Network for Unity unreservedly condemn this decision by the British judicial system we would call on ALL shades of Republicanism and ALL shades of Nationalism to condemn this action of the British Courts and to unite in support of Peter Mc Callion’s family.
