RNU CHALLENGES SINN FEIN ON DUNDALK PROTEST

Following Sinn Feins protest at a SDLP-Labour Party press conference on the Lisbon vote in Dudalk,Tony Taylor,on behalf of the Republican Network For Unity (RNU) challenges the party to "explain the contradiction between its words in Derry and its actions in adopting the same tactics against the SDLP and Labour party in Dundalk.

"RNU as Republicans are commited to Irish national sovereignty and therefore have pubilicly urged a "No" vote on Lisbon on much the same principles for which we have pubilicly oposed the British administration at Stormont. However while we share a common position on Lisbon,we must ask the obvious question.

"RNU and other Republicans refuse to be silent partners in constabulary board meetings that are not about genuine community input or partnership but are purely political charades set up by the crown to mask a constabulary that imposes British law and rule in British interests.

"Why when RNU and other Republicans make this political statement by shouting 'SS-RUC' at the Derry meetings is it termed immature,or without political substance,or undemocratic but shouts of 'No means no' by the same Sinn Fein party at an SDLP-Labour press conference are apparently a wise and legitimate political statement?

How can Republicans take Sinn Fein criticisms of our methods seriously,if the party copies these same methods two weeks later?

After the new British constabulary chief Matt Baggot stated it would be helpful to criminalize Republicans opposed to Stormont,it is time for Sinn Fein to think about the inherent contradictions indeed hyprocrisy in which it is caught and decide whether it will side with the British in a new criminalization strategy against Republicans.
