RUC/PSNI Threaten to “Taser” Pregnant Woman During Home Raid

Statement from Martin Og Meehan, North Belfast Republican Network for Unity.

“This is day three in which the RUC/PSNI have held the community in Ardoyne under virtual siege. Prior to and following on from the civil disturbance due to the Orange order parade being forced through our community this paramilitary force have been stopping, harassing and abusing scores of residents in the streets under the all covering ‘Section 44 PTA’.

The latest in this saga of repression has seen a series of house raids beginning early this morning. Doors have been rammed in with children being awakened crying from their beds whilst these thugs wreck all in their paths as they overturn families furniture.

In one incident a heavily pregnant woman blocked the way of a raiding party trying to force their way up stairs and into the family’s bedrooms. Telling them that she needed to get her children from their beds and dressed before taking them downstairs….she was told in no uncertain terms that she had better “Get the f**k out of our way before I Taser you”.

These searches have turned up nothing and are clearly meant to put the frighteners on to the people of Ardoyne for having the audacity to oppose the Orange march of hate. Whilst the RUC/PSNI will undoubtedly continue to behave in such a manner, encouraged by the silence of the elected representatives of the area - who care to look the other way and only see and say what their masters up in Stormont tell them to, they need to know that the people of Ardoyne have endured generations of state oppression, it did not break the will of the people to resist then….it will not do it now.

The Republican Network for Unity call upon the RUC/PSNI to withdraw from the Ardoyne area immediately.”
