WHY WE OPPOSE THE PSNI

Anybody willing to open their eyes will recognise that working class communities in the north including those with long histories and legacies of resistance to British / loyalist repression are being reduced to a shadow of their former selves by criminal and anti-social elements.

Random assaults, drug epidemics and anti-social crimes such as creeper burglaries and death driving have made once proud communities a place of real fear for many (including republicans) who grew up in streets once bound together by strong ties of solidarity and neighbourly responsibility.

R.N.U. Protest for Release of republicans held in Antrim by RUC/ PSNI- Mar 19th 2009

RNU demand the release of republicans held for the longest period since the introduction of internment in 1971. The RNU is concerned about the abuse of human rights of all those held in custody. The men and women have already been subjected to trial by media. Additionally, we call upon the Childrens Commission (NICCY) to act to protect the rights of a 17 year
old minor who is currently being held in Antrim barracks.

RELEASE REPUBLICANS NOW! The fact that the judiciary have given extensions to the detention of these individuals should not be lost on all republicans and community activists. This legislation will seriously undermine the human rights of suspects and has the potential to lead to false convictions. Contact - email your MLA, MP, Human Rights Commission, CRJ or any other persons to express your concern. - You may also leave us a comment.
